There is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. (1 Tim 2:5)
A Mediator is a medium of communication, an arbitrator, and one who intervenes between two in order to:
– make or restore peace and friendship
– form a compact (an agreement or covenant)
– rectify a covenant (to approve or sanction firmly, to make valid and binding)
Christ Jesus gave Himself as a ransom for all. He gave His life in exchange for our life. His blood for our blood. As the price of our redemption.
The payment has been made. It is finished. It just has to be looked to on our end. We have to put our faith in it.
We will all stand in the heavenly courtroom one day before the one God to give an account. Without the provided medium of communication, we will all be found guilty because there’s none who do good. We have all fallen short of the law’s requirements.
The only person who will receive pardon, being released from the legal penalties of our offenses, is the one who has a Mediator to stand between himself and the Judge. A Mediator who will communicate on our behalf. A Mediator who will restore peace between us and the Judge. A Mediator who will make the new covenant that was cut for us valid and binding.
Christ Jesus is not a way to God. He is the only way to God.
Don’t be found on that day without the one Mediator to communicate on your behalf. Don’t be found standing in the heavenly courtroom with hope in anything but in Christ.
He’s the only way we can receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.
