As she wakes, she lets out a little whine. Sitting up in bed in the dark room, she rubs her eyes, unable to see much.
Standing by the bed, I stretch out my arms to her. She blinks trying to see more clearly.
Then I say, “It’s Mama.”
She instantly lunges towards my outstretched hands in full surrender and full confidence.
No other voice would suffice. Even when she cannot see, the sound of my voice is all that’s needed to help her find her way.
She knows my voice the way I want to know God’s voice.
“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” (John 10:27)
